North Eastern Regional Institute of Water and Land Management, Tezpur

North Eastern Regional Institute of Water and Land Management, or NERIWALM is an institution which was established in the year 1989 for specialised education. The NERIWALM Institute is set up on a magnificent campus of 19. 7684 acres in Tezpur, Assam. The institute specialises in offering knowledge and expertise in water and land management.

It is an affiliated college which is operating under the approval of the All India Council for Technical Education and also takes its privileges from other national educational standards. The institute is blessed with a faculty strength of 8 members who ensure the focused attention of the students. Another postgraduate programme has been designed under NERIWALM, in the related field of Water Resource Management.

Such ranges of facilities are provided to support its academic mission and enhance student experience by the North Eastern Regional Institute of Water and Land Management. Air-conditioned classrooms with LCD projectors, whiteboards, and other state-of-the-art facilities provide an ideal learning environment.

For practical exposure, good laboratory infrastructures are available, including the Soil and Water Testing Laboratory, which has gained fame for its work on the groundwater contamination and river water quality of the North-East region. In the Computational Laboratory, desktop computers, high-performance computing, and specialised software enable students to test and apply their theoretical knowledge.

A library with over 4,170 books and 38 national and international journals is a treasure trove of literature on topics such as irrigation, hydrology, watershed management, etc. At present, NERIWALM conducts one postgraduate course : M. Tech in Water Resource Management. The duration of the programme is two years, and it is conducted on a full-time basis. 18 students are the allowed intake for this programme.
