Pitambara College of Education, Datia

Pitambara College of Education, Datia, was set up in 2012 and is a co-educational institution preparing prospective teachers. Located at Datia in Madhya Pradesh, this college is affiliated and has got the recognition of the National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE) in order to assure good teacher education.

The college currently provides three full time programmes that are conceptually diverse but collectively cover all the aspects of education, for which there are 300 seats in total for all the courses run by this college. Pitambara College of Education boasts of a faculty team of 21 members so that each student can be an individual focus and get requisite support.

Pitambara College of Education has amenities put in place in order to support the education of the its learners. These amenities include an airstrip, a medical centre, a church, a fully equipped hospital, a basketball court, an orchard, and a book library stock with over 5,400 books, 7 encyclopedias, and 12 journals.

The IT facilities are also well-developed and has computer laboratory that contains 30 desk top computers, multimedia etc. so that the students should be familiar with modern technological bulletin board erudition. In regards to skills based practice, the college has functional fully equipped science laboratories.

There is emphasis on physical fitness in the sense that there are sporting facilities for football, cradle, tennis, basketball, volleyball and badminton. The transport facilities are available to help the students and staffs as an auditorium is used for events and seminars and so on.

The courses at Pitambara College of Education are general and specialised and the college allows students to have a choice of only their areas of interest. The institute provides three full-time programmes that are a 4-year integrated humanities & Science BA BEd course , a 2-year D. El. Ed programme and 2 years B. Ed course .

Each one of these programmes has an intake of one hundred students and therefore having a cumulative of three hundred overall seats for all courses. This fine-tuning of a programmes list lets the college stay focused on teacher education while providing diverse levels and components of it. The admission process at Pitambara College of Education also followed merit based university admission process and clear.

To get admission in BA B. Ed Integrated programme, the candidates can be admitted on the basis of marks of the qualifying examination and/or entrance test as per regulation of respective state government university/UT etc.

On admission, students are expected to decide their subjects for discipline options and pedagogic options or specialisations and they are vetted and given according to their performance and availability respectively. In the case of the D. El. Ed and B. Ed courses, the admission depending on marks in the qualifying or entrance test as permissible under the state government norms of the university.
