R and D Centre For Bicycle and Sewing Machine, Ludhiana

The R&D Centre for Bicycle and Sewing Machine, Ludhiana was started in 1983 is an excellence in technical field located in industrial city of punjab. This affiliated college which is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) provides specialised diploma for different engineering fields.

Spread over a small area of 6 acres in the Focal Point area of Ludhiana, the institute has come up as a pioneer in technical education. The centre has a targeted student enrolment of 342 and 5 members in the faculty, which give a specific environment for learning. The institute has three full time diploma courses, which clearly shows its vision to produce qualified personnel in manufacture and technology fields.

The R & D Centre also avails several facilities in order to improve the learning prowess of the school’s students. The college library acts as an information centre with collection of about one hundred and forty thousand standard textbooks in various area of specialisation in science and engineering. It also comprises an e-Library in order to make other resources accessible to the students through electronic means.

The institute’s IT systems keep the students well prepared in regard to modern day technological demands. Accommodated laboratory practices provide practical additions to the need-accomplishing goals of technical education. The campus provides hostel accommodation for both male and female students separately, for the students coming from other states and districts.

A cafeteria that serves healthy meals for instance give students well balanced diets and sports facilities such as volley ball court, basket ball court, Cricket pitch, separate badminton courts and a football pitch help in developing sports talent of the students. In all, the institute provides a total of three full-time diploma courses Of these three programmes, all are regular programmes.

These courses cut across the various branches of engineering, and gives specific knowledge in respective fields of study. The approved intake for all the courses is 210 and this follows the potential of the institute to train several technical personnel every year.

The number of graduates is unknown, however, the institute’s objective of implementing a sound practical education with emphasis on work related competencies will seek to provide competent graduates for the market.
