This is a women’s college started in 1932 in Amritsar named Saroop Rani Government College for Women, Amritsar. It is located at Amritsar, Punjab, and is an affiliated college which is spread over 15 acres of land and has a history of about 9 decades. A step has been taken toward proving the quality of the college, as it is affiliated with the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
A total undergraduate and graduate enrolment is 2787, and the faculty comprises 111 members teaching 32 courses in 11 degree programmes. These are arts, science, commerce, computer applications, vocational and various other fields to fulfil various interests and learning needs. The college encompasses numerous amenities to complement the course and facilitate the personal growth of the learners.
A spacious and well-endowed girls’ hostel houses over two hundred and fifty students, most of whom are from rural or remote areas, and provides them with safely processed and purified water; adequately balanced meals; and adequately sized and designed common-friendly lounges and dining halls, among other amenities.

A magnificent 650-person capacity multi-purpose hall includes a stage and is used for cultural and academic performances. Sports freaks can expect manicured playgrounds for athletic events and many other games, such as basketball, volleyball, etc. These include liberal arts programmes, including Arts ( BA ), Science (B. Sc), and Commerce ( B. Com ) and professional courses, including BBA , BCA, and various B. Voc programmes. Masters programmes include MA in areas such as music, Geography and English.
