It was affiliated college of Osmania University and named as Sravanthi Institute of Elementary Teacher Education Dharmaram. This institute is recognised by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and offers elementary teacher education. The institute is located on a comparatively small plot of 5. 29 acres, which provides appropriate educational environment for students who are eager to become teachers.
The institute has 32 students enrolled at present and a teaching staff of 8 faculty members, making it easier for the teacher to spend more time with each student and deliver the best. It features a list of amenities which make the learning process in the institute more interesting for the learners.
Education and psychology library with diversified collection of books education psychology and allied subjects, expensive much of Rs 5,50,000 includes volumes 3500 number of Indian and foreign journals 20 instead of technical video CD. Designed for reading and studying, the reading room is certainly large enough to accommodate library users. As for practical training, the college provides departmental laboratories.
Outdoor: a large playfield which can be properly used for different sports activities such as cricket, football, volley ball, handball, etc Indoor: table tennis, caroms, chess, etc. The institute also offers the accommodation separate for boys and girls for those students who live in other municipalities.
Ours is the Sravanthi Institute of Elementary Teacher Education and it offers only one course, which is the Diploma in Education ( D. Ed. ). This course is a two-year full-time programme for which the college has sanctioned an inflow of 50 first-year students. The D. Ed.
course offers students the opportunity to become professional teacher for the primary and upper primary classes since it is a qualification programme to the teaching profession in elementary education. At Sravanthi Institute of Elementary Teacher Education, selection is done through merit performance in the qualifying test or entrance test, whichever is applicable.
The institute also operates with admission policies as provided for by the state government of Telangana.
