Sri K Venkatapatheppa College of Physical Education, Chikkaballapur

Sri. K Venkatapatheppa College of Physical Education a single stream institution was established in the year 1983 at Chikkaballapur, Karnataka. This co-educational institution approved by the NCTE stands as one of the pioneers in physical education programmes. Established and located on a 10-acre of land the college runs two full time courses in which the college admits a total of 110 students.

Currently, the institute has a faculty of 8 and 36 students thus fulfilling the need of students wanting to develop a career in physical education. Sri. K Venkatapatheppa College of Physical Education features state of the art facilities to cater for academic as well as the physical abilities of the students.

An electronic library and information centre for students has also been provided, departmental laboratories for practical sessions. The campus boasts of an opera house for programme and seminars while a health facility with an infirmary for first aid supports student health.

Physical fitness is emblematic of the institute as demonstrated by scientific gymnasium (multi-station scientific gymnasium) and diversified sports facility. Among them are cricket, football, hockey, handball, netball, tennis, volley ball, baseball, basketball, kho-kho, kabaddi, tennikoit, rock ball courts and fields.

For the students who need special assistance, there are available hostels for boys and girls providing hygienic food and having furnished rooms within disciplined circumstances. Sri K Venkatapatheppa College of Physical Education offers two full-time courses: The programmes in physical education are Bachelor of Physical Education (B. P. Ed,) Diploma in Physical Education (D. P. Ed. ) The forum of the B. P.

Ed programme is 50 students at the same time, and 60 students for the D. P. Ed programme. They are both 2-year programmes that give students their needed preparation in the area of physical education and sports sciences.
