Sukdev Brahmachari Institute of Education, Kalyani

Sukdev Brahmachari Institute of Education in Kalyani was newly founded in 2018 and is focused on the preparation of teachers. This men and women education college is positioned in Krishnapur, Kalyani, West Bengal, which is going cooperative with West Bengal University of Teacher’s Training, Education and Management Technology and Skill Development and recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

The institute offers two full-time courses that are Bachelor of Education (B. Ed) and Diploma in Elementary Education (D. El. Ed) for 100 students each. The total strength of the students is 400 and the faculty members consist of eighteen members, so the institute has a satisfactory student faculty ratio for efficient teaching.

Sukdev Brahmachari Institute of Education has focused to offer a right environment for learners who want to become teachers. It has several amenities to meet student’s needs in terms of their academic and personal development. The college has a library that students can borrow books from, or come to for information and learning materials that can help them in college.

Understanding the significance of IT in current practice, the institute has provided the best conditions for quality IT education by training students in proper use of technologies in teaching. Also, the college has a concern about students’ health by having a facility that offers health care known as health centre making the college free from any dangerous accidents since it has first aid facilities.

Sukdev Brahmachari Institute of Education offers two major course in teacher education. B. Ed is a two year full time course intended for those who wish to teach at the Secondary and the Higher Secondary level. Diploma in Elementary Education (D. El. Ed) is also a two-year full time course which specially designed for training primary and upper primary teachers.

Both courses were approved with an intake of 100 students, they are part of the overall admission of 200 students per academic year at the institute. These programmes are laid out in a way that balances academic content knowledge and teaching instructional skills to ready for the contemporary classroom.

The admission policy of Sukdev Brahmachari Institute of Education is purely merit based as provided by the state government and the University to which the institute is affiliated to. In general, the B. Ed programme comes under the Self Financing Scheme and the merit for the programme and is calculated with reference to marks obtained in the qualifying examination or an entrance test.

The selection process may wee contain other conditions as per the West Bengal government and the affiliated university standards. In like manner the admission criterion for the D. El. Ed programme includes the nature of the examination conducted according to the norms set by the state government /UT administration in respect to Retot, through marks scored in the qualifying examination and /or entrance test.
