Vel Tech, Chennai was established in 1997. The college is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The college offers various facilities to the students and faculty members of the institute including computer lab, counselling services, auditoriums, group discussion halls, interview halls, transportation, hostels, labs, central library etc.

The college got the status of a Deemed to be University under UGC Act, 1956. The nearest railway station from the institute is the Chennai Central Railway Station which is located 29. 6 km away and students can reach the institute campus in about 50 mins.

Clubs, Committees & Societies:- National Service Scheme- National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Youth Programme which is established under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

Students of Vel Tech, Chennai have also conducted various programmes under this scheme including international yoga day, blood donation, leprosy campaign, swachh bharat, literary campaign, mass cleaning, mass tree plantation, road traffic awareness, sand sculpturing, polio vaccine, disaster management, PFMS training etc. to spread awareness among the common people. C has been formed inside the campus to show the importance of living a disciplined life among students which also helps them contribute their part towards the development of the country. The students of the N. C.

C group also take part in various other activities including Para Sailing, Gliding, Para dropping, Training Camps, National Integration Camps, Rock climbing and Mountaineering activities Boat Pulling/Sailing and Ship Modelling etc. Dance Club- This Club helps students hone and develop their skills in dancing.

Students interested in dancing are members of this Club where they learn and practice different forms of dance including contemporary, hip-hop, classical, salsa, free-style etc. The club is a platform for budding and professional dancers who are students at Vel Tech, Chennai. Music Club- This Club deals with all musical activities and helps students develop their musical skills.

Members of this club learn and practice different forms of music which help them develop their skills. The members of this club also participate in different music fests and events conducted by the institute. Literary Club- The main objective of this Club is to encourage the literary talent of the students and enhance the creativity skills.

The members of this club are always thrilled about learning new topics and exploring ideas. This Club also conducts various quiz competitions inside the institute campus. Sports Club- The Sports Club of Vel Tech, Chennai has been formed to develop the skills and interests of students in sports. This club aims to promote a healthy and fit lifestyle by engaging students more in sports activities.

Various events and competitions are also conducted by the members of this club. The members of this club also conduct various sports and recreational activities in different events.
