Vidya Rattan Polytechnic, Sangrur, was established in 2009 to provide quality technical education in Punjab, India. Located in over a vast 5. 462 acre of land, this affiliated college got the approval of AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) for providing quality education in different streams of engineering.

The institute enrols a total of 164 students and employs a total of 37 members of faculty which provides an intimate atmosphere for learning. The polytechnic offers four diploma programmes each taking a period of three years in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Computer Science and Engineering. To allow students get the best learning experience, Vidya Rattan Polytechnic has been equipped with modern facilities.

For accommodation, the campus is provided with well furnished hostels for boys and girls separately with a home away from home comfort. A spacious professional library contains books of technical subjects knowledge ranging from literary works, general knowledge, management and IT.

In relation, the institute focuses on the over all development of the students through provision of sporting activities therein facilities for health check thus, balancing the academic activities. As for medical facilities the college has medical stations on campus to address students and employees needs in case of medical crises.

In terms of infrastructure, laboratories are well equipped because Vidya Rattan Polytechnic also focus on practical knowledge. Fundamental sciences are taught in Physics and Chemistry labs, Electronics & Communication, Mechanical Engineering and Computer Aided Design/ Computer Aided Manufacturing Labs.

The institute has a modern information technology facilities mapped with a central computer centre equipped with broadband internet connection and wireless connectivity across all the campus so that students have all the updated technology at their disposal For the better preparation of students for their wished careers, the polytechnic has place a special Training and Placement Cell.

This cell is highly proactive in identifying training programmes and making sure that the students get final placements so they have the knowledge gap between what is taught in academies and what is required in organisations closed. Vidya Rattan Polytechnic in total provides four full time diploma courses, in which all are under regular category.

In total, the intake approval for all courses is a maximum of 210 seats. The highest intake is focused on Diploma in Electrical Engineering where there are 90 seats, Mechanical Engineering takes 60 intakes while Civil Engineering plus Computer Science and Engineering takes 30 intakes each.

Their purpose is in educating students in the fundamentals of the chosen subject and in giving them knowledge of methods that would help them in their work in the field.
